Children, minors and people under guardianship

Children, minors and persons under guardianship must apply for a passport accompanied by their legal representative.

Passports are valid for five years for persons up to the age of 12, from the age of 12 they are valid for 10 years.

  • For children up to the age of 7, three crosses ("xxx") are shown instead of the signature in the passport
  • For children up to the age of 12, no fingerprints are stored on the chip in the passport.
  • For children up to the age of 14, the printout 'in growth' is indicated under size.

For children under the age of 2:

The photo required for the passport can be conveniently submitted digitally via an online form or, alternatively, taken at the local Immigration and Passport Office. Digital submission helps streamline the on-site process and shortens waiting times.
