Education and training in radiation protection

Persons who handle ionizing radiation must be trained and educated in accordance with their responsibilities and activities (Art. 172 chStSV). For the necessary training in radiation protection, most professions and activities must complete additional recognized radiation protection courses(link to the Radiation Protection Training Ordinance of the FDHA).

The website of the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) provides a clear summary of the current requirements for basic and further training in radiation protection.

Note: All persons who handle ionizing radiation must be trained and educated in accordance with their responsibilities and activities. The obligation to undergo basic and further training is not limited to those persons who are named on the license.

Recognition of foreign training and further training in radiation protection

Radiation protection training and further training requiring recognition that was not completed in Switzerland can be recognized by the Office of Public Health if it meets Swiss requirements. Applications for recognition are examined on an individual basis.

The completed application form "Individual recognition of training and/or further training in radiation protection completed abroad" can be submitted to the Office of Public Health electronically and without a signature by e-mail(martin.stricker@llv.li). Link to the application form
